AccuBoost Touts Latest Non-invasive Accelerated Partial Breast Irradiation (APBI) Clinical Results at ASTRO 2018

 

Jarek Hepel, MD Accelerated Partial Breast Irradiation poster The latest Accelerated Partial Breast Irradiation (APBI) clinical results were presented at ASTRO by Jarek Hepel, MD in San Antonio, TX. Dr. Hepel, Principal investigator of several clinical trials on the Non-invasive breast brachytherapy Technology (NIBB – the generic designation for AccuBoost), presented the latest APBI results from a multi-center data registry on the technology this year. 220 patients were treated with APBI using NIBB were analyzed for this report.

Purpose/Objective(s)

The NIBB technique is a novel non-invasive but targeted method of delivering partial breast irradiation. We established a multi-institutional registry to evaluate feasibility, safety, and efficacy of this technique across various practice settings.

The report’s co-authors included researchers from prestigious centers like Watson Clinic, UCSD and Lynn Cancer Center in Boca Raton. The report detailed superb cosmetic outcomes (98% Good/Excellent) and very low skin toxicity across all practice settings.
